BJP slams Congress after leader resigned alleging he left casting couch in party

BJP slams Congress after leader resigned alleging he left casting couch in partyNew Delhi, Sep 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress over the recent explosive revelations in the Hema Commission report and the subsequent resignation of its Kerala unit leader, who recently alleged that there is a casting couch within the party.

BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar, at a press conference, hit out at Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi for removing the party leader who had acted as a whistleblower over alleged exploitation of women in the party’s Kerala unit.

“Look at the political level of Congress. Before the election, they make big statements on many issues and take a moral high ground, but then they continue to silence the voices of whistleblowers,” he said.

Taking a swipe at Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ slogan and Rahul’s ‘samvidhaan bachao’ call, he said, “They boast of tall claims but are silent when their own party is involved. Before the elections, Rahul was at pains to assert that he and his party would protect the Constitution and institutions but he has maintained a stoic silence on issues relating to women in states ruled by his allies from the INDIA bloc.”

The former minister also questioned the grand old party’s silence on certain incidents, including the one in Kerala, Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, where allies of the INDIA bloc are being prosecuted for crimes against women.

“Cong’s selective silence is visible to all. Women have been subjected to sexual harassment and torture in several places like Kannauj, Kolkata and Kerala, yet they have refrained from speaking out, let alone condemning them,” he pointed out.

Earlier in the day, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla had also slammed the Congress, accusing it of silencing the voices of women instead of investigating the matter.

“The Hema Commission report in Kerala has revealed many secrets. The Kerala Communist Party did nothing and now the Congress has shown its anti-women face. The party’s senior leader Simi Rosebell John only said that such casting couch-like things are happening in the Kerala Congress too, where women are being exploited. But the Congress has sacked her instead of investigating it,” he said.

It is notable that Simi Rosebell John was expelled from the party on Sunday after she made remarks against women leaders of Congress during a speech on a private television channel.

However, Kerala Congress alleged that Simi Rosebell John tried to intimidate and defame women leaders and workers, allegedly at the behest of some political opponents.
