This is why Angie Katsanevas is so easy to love

Fans of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City were thrilled when the season 5 trailer dropped. Not only can we expect some intense drama, but the clip also shows that Angie Katsanevas will return as a full-time housewife. The mother of one was a standout during Season 4 when she was just a “friend of,” so it made sense that Bravo wanted her back.

Angie’s Fat Greek Life

From day one, Angie has educated fans on her Greek heritage. It was fun to see Angie take such pride in her culture in a town full of Mormons. Between inviting the gang over for Orthodox Easter and wearing her Greek flag bikini, it was easy enough to fall in love with Angie. The business owner doesn’t just act Greek on the show. She lives her daily life like one, including teaching her daughter one Greek word every day. The RHOSLC star also runs her business according to the Greek pillar of hospitality. She once wrote, “Greeks are known for their hospitality. When you walk into my home or my business, you’re greeted with a hug, a cup of coffee, a drink, and something to eat. And if you turn one of them away, I’ll be offended.”

Angie recently returned to her homeland and took some amazing photos at the Acropolis. The Utah Greek community also honored Angie and her entire family on KSL. As fans learned, Angie’s father immigrated to America from Greece in 1947. Angie told viewers that her father wanted to live the American dream. Louie Katsanevas was only 11 years old at the time. Angie then said, “I’m proud to be a Greek girl. I’m very proud of how we were raised. I’m very proud of the strong culture that we have behind us.” Angie’s pride makes us all want to be Greek for a day.

Angie Katsanevas is a star

Angie’s appearance on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 4 reunion didn’t go unnoticed by me. While Monica Garcia was trying to defend herself and her troll account, Reality Von Tease, Angie was there taking notes. So when Monica said that the FBI had assigned her to surveil Jen Shah, Angie couldn’t help but ask, “They sent you in instead of the police?!” Angie was the one who really riled Monica up, causing her to fly off the handle. The hairstylist was quietly watching, but she didn’t hold back when she had something to say. Angie’s words often cut like a knife, because she wasted no time getting her point across. This often meant that Monica never had time to imitate Angie.

I also died watching Angie “the Don” Katsanevas try to climb onto the pink flamingo float while wearing her Greekini. She was never afraid to make a fool of herself, especially when rumors swirled that she had ties to the Greek mafia. The mother of one also wasn’t afraid to take the plunge when it came to confronting the ladies. Angie was undoubtedly the star of the season.

If there’s one thing you don’t often see in a Real Housewives star, it’s humility and empathy. But Angie has both qualities in spades. The newest housewife came across as smart and emotionally intelligent, a far cry from Monica and Mary Cosby. Angie strikes me as the type of woman you’d give her mantle to. She comes across as a girly girl, which is everything you want in a friend. The Greek goddess was far from selfish and seemed kind to her castmates. Most of all, she kept herself together at all times and waited until it was appropriate to call someone out on overstepping her boundaries. Angie does all of this with the precision of a samurai sword slaying its enemies. I found her to be down-to-earth, kind, and honest.
