Mayawati objects to Yogi government’s bulldozer

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday objected to the Uttar Pradesh government’s bulldozer drive, saying bulldozers should be used only if the court orders it.

Mayawati said that within the limits of law, action should be taken against criminals. Instead of taking action with bulldozers against criminals or their family members, strict action should be taken against officers who do not give due justice to victims.

In a series of posts on X, the BSP supremo said, “Action against criminal elements in the country should be taken according to law and their families and relatives should not be punished for their crimes. All this has been demonstrated by our party’s government by establishing ‘rule of law through law’.”

She said: “Bulldozers should also be used only as per the decision of the Supreme Court. However, it would be better if there is no need to use it as criminal elements can be dealt with under strict laws, while instead of using bulldozers against the family and relatives of criminal elements, strict action should be taken against the officials involved, who, in collaboration with such elements, are not giving due justice to the victims. All governments should pay attention to this.”

It is noteworthy that the Yogi government is using bulldozers to keep the mafia elements in check, making bulldozer a synonym for terror for the miscreants and mafias. The Yogi government has also received praise from various sections of the country for the bulldozer action and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been identified as Bulldozer Baba.
