LDF MLA meets Kerala CM after leveling allegations against top cops

Thiruvananthapuram: A day after ruling LDF MP PV Anvar made shocking revelations against ADGP (Law and Order) MR Ajith Kumar and some other police officers, accusing them of participating in criminal activities, he met the Chief Minister to inform him about the charges against the officers.

After the meeting, he informed the media that all the matters had been communicated to the Chief Minister. A written report has also been provided. He expressed hope for a fair investigation and mentioned his plans to meet CPM state secretary MV Govindan to submit a memorandum as well.

“I have taken responsibility as a comrade. My duty ends at this point. I will cooperate with the investigating authorities,” he stated.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a special investigation team headed by DGP Shaikh Darvesh Sahib to probe the allegations against the ADGP. Interestingly, all other officers in the team are junior to the ADGP, which has created a stir in various quarters.

When asked if a fair investigation was possible with Ajith Kumar as ADGP law and order, Anvar stated that it was not his responsibility to remove him from his post.

The Nilambur MLA, who had earlier compared Ajith Kumar to “Dawood Ibrahim,” appeared considerably subdued after meeting the chief minister. It is believed that Pinarayi advised the legislator not to make any public statements on the issue.

Anvar alleged that some of the police officers had tarnished the reputation of the police force and that the issue had been brought to the attention of the government. “As a comrade, I have done my duty. Now it is the turn of the government to take action,” he told the media.

The MLA had also levelled serious allegations against the Chief Minister’s political secretary P Sasi the other day, accusing him of supporting police officers involved in various criminal activities. However, when asked if he had discussed the political secretary’s behaviour with the Chief Minister, the MLA preferred to remain tight-lipped.

Anwar has repeatedly levelled serious allegations against Ajith Kumar during his interactions with the media in the past few days. The MLA has accused the ADGP of phone tapping, association with gold smuggling gangs and links with murder cases.

Ajith Kumar has responded to the allegations by writing a letter to the Chief Minister and the DGP, seeking a detailed probe into the allegations against him.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader VD Satheeshan reiterated the demand for a CBI probe into the allegations levelled by the LDF MP.
