Imposition of curfew in Bunkpurugu Township and surrounding areas in North East Region

The Minister of Home Affairs has, through an executive instrument, extended the curfew imposed on the municipality of Bunkpurugu and its environs in the Northeast Region of 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, valid from Tuesday, September 3, 2024

The government continues to urge leaders, opinion leaders, youth and the people of the region to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges they face and to channel their energies in a non-violent manner to ensure peace in the region.

Meanwhile, a total ban is in place for all persons in Bunkpurugu Municipality and surrounding areas to carry arms, ammunition or other offensive weapons. Anyone caught with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
