Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly arrested over rape allegations, actor calls it completely untrue

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly was arrested on Tuesday for rape based on a complaint filed by a 40-year-old woman. The woman had complained that the actor had sexually assaulted her in Dubai over a year ago, police said. Now, an officer from Oonnukal police station said that there are six accused, including a woman, in the case. The FIR has been filed under section 376 of the IPC. The woman said the incident took place over a year ago in Dubai and the officer did not provide any further information about the case. Nivin Pauly is among the actors and directors facing allegations of sexual harassment or rape by female actors after the release of the Justice K Hema Committee report. Nivin eventually responded to the allegations via his Instagram post on Tuesday night. He released a statement saying, “I have come across a false news report accusing me of molesting a girl. Please know that this is completely untrue. I am determined to go to any lengths to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to book. Thank you for your concern. Well, the committee was set up by the Kerala government after the actress attack case in 2017. The report discusses the various cases of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam cinema industry.

The case will be investigated by the Special Investigation Team set up to investigate complaints of sexual misconduct emanating from the Malayalam film industry. The incident took place in November 2023, according to the complaint.
