Karnataka: Fake operation leads to arrest of Nadeem who fraudulently lured job seeker to hostel for sex

HUBLI: In a shocking incident that came to light on September 3, a railway employee named Nadeem was arrested by the police for allegedly luring a woman on the pretext of offering her a job in the railway department. The arrest came after an undercover operation orchestrated by the victim and her husband, leading to Nadeem’s arrest on September 3.

Nadeem, a clerk in the finance department of the South Western Railway divisional headquarters in Hubli, is accused of exploiting women by promising them jobs in the railway department. According to the police, Nadeem used his position to create a facade of legitimacy by luring vulnerable women by offering them employment opportunities in exchange for sexual favours. The modus operandi involved befriending women through social media and other communication platforms to convince them of his influence within the railway department.

To make his plan more convincing, Nadeem allegedly created a fake job posting page on social media. He specifically targeted women who were desperate for work or were married and trying to support their families. Nadeem would send out these fake job postings and once a woman showed interest, he would build a friendly relationship with her. Over time, he would escalate his demands and eventually suggest that the woman should meet “senior officers” for a day to secure her job. He used a fake officer ID to further deceive the women by arranging to meet them at places like railway guesthouses.

The case took a dramatic turn when a housewife from Keshwapur, Hubli, became Nadeem’s latest target. Nadeem, who had talked to the woman and made advances, invited her to a railway guest house where he was staying, claiming that he had come to Hubli from Delhi. He sent her a photograph of the room and asked her to meet him there on the pretext of finalizing her job offer.

Frightened and suspicious of Nadeem’s intentions, the woman informed her husband about the situation. Together, they decided to take action and filed a complaint at the Keshwapura police station. The police, in collaboration with the couple, hatched a plan to catch Nadeem red-handed. The woman agreed to meet Nadeem at the guest house, and when he made his advances, the police, who were waiting nearby, intervened and arrested him.

Hubli police commissioner N. Shasikumar gave details about the incident and confirmed Nadeem’s arrest. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the extent of Nadeem’s fraudulent activities. “We are taking this matter very seriously,” Shasikumar said. “We have started an investigation to ascertain how many women he may have cheated and the full extent of his deeds.”

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Nadeem had booked the guest house room under the name of an IAS officer, further indicating the lengths he would go to in carrying out his scams. This discovery has raised concerns about the possible misuse of official identities in such schemes and has prompted the police to look for possible connections or accomplices who may have helped Nadeem.

The arrest has sparked anger in the community, particularly among women’s rights groups and local residents who are shocked by the brutality of Nadeem’s actions. Many have called for strict action against him, not only for exploiting women but also for tarnishing the reputation of the railway department and other government institutions.

Nadeem is currently in police custody and a case has been registered against him at the Keshwapur police station. The charges include fraud, sexual harassment and impersonation. The police have said that more charges may be added as the investigation progresses, especially if more victims come forward.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone who may have been a victim of Nadeem or who has information about his activities to come forward. Authorities are determined to ensure that all aspects of this case are thoroughly investigated and that Nadeem faces the full consequences of his actions.
