Rape Case: Malayalam Actor Bala Supports Nivin Pauly

Malayalam hero Nivin Pauly, who has been arrested in a rape case, has received support from actor Bala.

In a video shared on his Facebook account, Bala mentioned that Nivin Pauly’s statements during his address to the media on Tuesday, September 3, renewed his faith in him. He praised the actor for his courage in difficult times.

“Nivin Pauly spoke openly to the media shortly after the allegations were made and did not run away. We should all respect him for that. He said he was alone in this fight. But I want him to know that we are all behind him,” he added.

In the video, Bala pointed out that the prosecutor must prove her allegations. “If there is no truth in the woman’s complaint, she will have to face the consequences. I hope she is aware of the law.”

Meanwhile, a few industry insiders have South First spoke with the opinion that there is a high probability that the rape charges against Nivin Pauly will turn out to be false.

Some felt that this could be an attempt to take advantage of the current situation, especially the ongoing unrest in Malayalam cinemas following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report.

“The woman had complained earlier too. But the police found the complaint false. And now she told the media that she had filed a complaint again after the Justice Hema Committee report was released,” they noted.

Accusations unfounded: Nivin Pauly

On September 3, a rape case was filed against actor Nivin Pauly by a woman who alleged that he sexually assaulted her at a Dubai hotel last year on the pretext of promising her roles in films.

The woman also told several news channels that Nivin Pauly and his gang had blackmailed her after sexually abusing her for days in Dubai.

However, Nivin Pauly denied these allegations during a press meet, saying that he had not even seen the woman. He announced that he would fight to “prove his innocence legally” and that he would address the media again if necessary. He also claimed that he would not hide.

After the redacted version of the Justice Hema Committee Report was made public, there have been many allegations of sexual harassment against several actors and filmmakers in the Malayalam industry. Following this, the Kerala government has set up a special investigation team to probe these allegations.

Meanwhile, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) said it needs to steer the discussions in the right direction based on the findings of the Justice Hema Committee report.

The WCC also said it would meet again with Kerala Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan to discuss further action on the report and urge the government to ensure that this does not happen again.
