20-year-old Florida man gets 68 years in prison for possession of child pornography

According to a report, detectives with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office found videos and photos depicting sexual exploitation of girls and boys ranging in age from infants to 11 years old.

A 20-year-old DeLand man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material, the state Attorney General’s Office said.

Anthony Lee Rowell will be sentenced to lifelong probation for being a sex offender once he is released from prison.

Rowell was being held Wednesday in the Volusia County Branch Jail awaiting transfer to prison.

During a hearing on Friday, Judge Dawn Nichols found Rowell guilty of 61 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.

The judge also labeled Rowell a sex offender.

Rowell was arrested in October by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, which executed a search warrant at Rowell’s home at 2001 Marsh Road, near DeLand. Officers seized cellphones, computers, laptops, hard drives, video recordings and tablets. Detectives found videos and photographs of sexual exploitation of girls and boys, estimated to be infants to 11 years old.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation revealed that Rowell allegedly uploaded child sexual abuse material and sent it to other users.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jeanne Stratis.
