YOUTH CONGRESS CARRIES OUT PROTEST

KOCHI: The Youth Congress on Wednesday marched to the city police commissioner’s office to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over allegations levelled by CPM-backed MLA PV Anvar against the CM’s political secretary and top IPS officials. A minor scuffle broke out during the protest after the police responded by setting up barricades and using water cannons to disperse the protesters. Despite the police’s efforts, the activists remained undeterred, sitting on the road and shouting slogans against the CM. Eventually, the police forcibly removed them and took them away in buses. Political analyst A Jayashankar inaugurated the protest. Youth Congress district president Sijo Joseph presided over it. Jayashankar alleged that the Secretariat has become a safe haven for anti-social forces. There has never been a government that has misused the power centres to such an extent. The revelations made by PV Anvar MLA are true, but no further action will be taken,” he said.

INVESTIGATION INTO ADGP FARCE, SAYS SHIBU BABY JOHN

KOLLAM: RSP state secretary Shibu Baby John has called for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s resignation following allegations levelled by Nilambur MLA PV Anvar against the CMO and the home ministry. “The probe against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar is a farce,” he said. He alleged that the accused officers are thieves and that the CM is in collusion with them. “Officers like Ajith Kumar have indulged in corruption to protect the personal interests of the CM. Pinarayi is trying to hide something. The CM, who is in charge of the home ministry, did not dare to suspend police officer Sujit Das, who had alleged that he would be indebted to MLA Anvar if he were made DGP,” Shibu had said in Kollam. If there is even an iota of truth in Anvar’s claims, Pinarayi Vijayan has no legal or moral right to continue as CM, he said.

Anvar’s allegations: Request for fair investigation

Kochi Islands: A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking a fair probe into the allegations levelled by MLA PV Anwar against Additional Director General of Police MR Ajith Kumar and former Malappuram district police chief Sujith Das. The petitioner’s lawyer, Joseph Rony Jose, has alleged that the police are trying to hush up the case without conducting a free and fair investigation. The petition argues that the probe should be conducted by a national agency as any delay in proper investigation will affect the collection of primary evidence.
