Malayalam actor Pauly files complaint with police to investigate allegations of sexual abuse

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Two days after actor Nivin Pauly denied allegations of sexual assault by a woman against him and five others, the rising star filed a complaint with the state police chief (SPC) seeking an inquiry into what he termed “baseless” allegations.

A complaint was filed with the Oonukal police on Tuesday based on a complaint forwarded by the Ernakulam Rural SP of police, to whom the woman had first complained about the sexual assault in Dubai.

A few hours after news broke that the police had registered the case, Pauly (40) appeared before the media and denied the allegations, saying he had never seen or spoken to the complainant.

Pauly said he would do everything he could to prove his innocence in the case and that he would fight the case not only for himself, but also for people who face similar allegations from women.

Pauly filed the complaint with the SPC on Thursday, requesting a full investigation into the allegations.

His complaint comes at a time when an FIR has been registered naming him as the sixth accused in the alleged attack on the woman in Dubai, in which producer AK Sunil is also involved.

Even though Pauly called the allegations baseless, the prosecutor also claimed that she would fight the case and prove that what she said was true.

She stated that after the Hema Justice Committee report was released last month, she had heard about the many complaints that had been filed and that she had therefore decided to file a new complaint against Pauly.

Pauly, who has won two Kerala Film Awards, started out as a software engineer before entering the film industry in 2010. He has made over 50 films, several of which have gone on to become box office hits.

In 2016, he turned producer of ‘Action Hero Biju’ under his label Pauly Jr. Pictures, which turned out to be a huge success.

There has been unrest in the Malayalam film industry since the long-awaited Justice Hema Committee report was released last month, which exposed the widespread sexual exploitation of women in the film industry.

The Kerala Police have so far registered FIRs against 11 persons, including nine from the film industry, based on complaints from actresses.

Those in the dock include actor and former CPI(M) legislator Mukesh Madhavan, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Maniyanpilla Raju, directors Ranjith and VK Prakash and production managers Vichu and Noble.

Those now released by the court include Mukesh, Renjith and Raju.
