Actor Nivin Pauly files complaint against prosecutor, demands special probe into rape allegations

Actor Nivin Pauly is currently the subject of heated debate in the Malayalam film industry after an anonymous woman accused the actor of rape. However, the Premam actor strongly denied the rape allegation leveled against him and five other persons. After two days, Pauly sought justice by filing a complaint with the state police chief. He sought a thorough investigation into the allegations which he firmly believes to be baseless.

After filing a police complaint, the 40-year-old actor went to the media and denied any previous encounters with the accuser. Nivin was determined to clear his name and vowed to fight the charges, not only for his own sake but also for others who may have been wrongly accused by women.

Pauly formally complained to the SPC on Thursday, calling for a full investigation into the charges against him. Interestingly, this action came at the same time that he was named as the sixth suspect in the alleged attack on a woman in Dubai, in which producer AK Sunil was also implicated in the same case.

Pauly may deny the allegations, but the prosecutor is determined to make them true. She decided to file a new complaint against Pauly after finding several protests regarding the Justice Hema Committee report from last month.

The Malayalam film industry was thrown into turmoil after the long-awaited Justice Hema Committee report was released last month. The report threw light on the disturbingly frequent incidents of sexual exploitation that women in the field endure.
