Who is Neil Jones?

Neil Jones is a professional ballroom dancer, best known for his appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, which he first appeared on in 2016.

But he had to wait to compete, as it was not until 2019 that he was paired with former footballer Alex Scott.

After competing again without a celebrity partner in 2020, Neil struggled to find his feet in the 2021 series, with him and Nina Wadia eliminated in the second week.

And since that early departure, Neil hasn’t missed having celebrities to dance with in the two series since, but he’s hoping 2024 will be his year.

Neil is a British national, but was born in Munster, Germany.

He began his dancing career at the age of three at a local ballet school.

During his competitive career, Neil represented Finland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

He has won numerous titles including the British, Dutch, European and Latin American titles.

When he signed up to BBC’s Strictly in 2016, he said: “As a British dancer I’ve grown up watching this amazing show, it’s a huge honour…

“I am excited and happy to be part of the Strictly family.”

Who is Neil Jones dating?

Neil is in a relationship with Love Island star Chyna Mills.

The couple confirmed their relationship during a romantic trip to Paris in August 2022.

This is Neil’s first serious relationship since his split from South American dancer Luisa Eusse in 2020.

In April 2023, the dancer announced that he and Chyna were engaged and expecting their first child together.

Neil popped the question while on holiday with the Love Island star in Bali.

He told Hello!: “I had already planned to propose to Chyna before we knew she was pregnant.

“Then we found out and I thought, ‘Oh, this is brilliant, it’s all coming together.’”

The couple welcomed their first child in October 2023 and named the baby girl Havana, after the Cuban capital. They said they chose the name because the city is multicultural and home to dance.

Why did Neil Jones split from his wife Katya Jones?

On August 18, 2019, it was revealed that Neil and his wife Katya Jones had split, ten months after she was pictured kissing her long-term partner from 2018, Seann Walsh.

The couple, who married in 2013, confirmed their split on Instagram.

Katya and Neil were hit by the “Strictly Curse” when Katya was photographed kissing her dance partner Seann Walsh on the street outside a pub.

Just hours before the story broke, the couple danced together on the show as part of a routine with other professional dancers.

An insider said at the time: “It’s going to cause real commotion behind the scenes, especially as Katya and Neil have to work together week in, week out.

“It’s going to be incredibly awkward, especially if Seann goes through to next week’s show.”

But Neil appeared to ignore the controversy by posting a photo of his wife with Seann on Twitter.

Now ex-girlfriend Luisa Eusse believes the trauma of Neil’s split from Katya after six years of marriage – which ended just months after she was spotted with comedian Seann Walsh – made it impossible to have a relationship with him.

Bisexual Luisa, who Neil, 38, dated for five months, said: “He was upset by what happened with Katya – and it affected our relationship so much that I felt like he would never be able to trust me.

“I felt like he was constantly afraid of me dating other men and women because I was afraid I would cheat on him.

“When I went out at night, he would stay up all night and question me about where I had been, as if he were my father. It made it impossible to be with him.

“I can understand it in some ways and you can’t blame him for still being hurt by Katya’s betrayal, but I couldn’t live with someone like him.”
