Mother charged with selling daughter for sex in exchange for money and drugs, police say | Lehigh Valley Regional News

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A woman is facing charges after allegedly trafficking her daughter to a 31-year-old man to rape her in exchange for money and drugs, Allentown police said.

The woman is being held on suspicion of child rape, human trafficking, child sexual exploitation and simple assault, according to court documents.

According to Allentown police, the mother left her 12-year-old daughter with Joshua Martel in a hotel room at the Super 8 Motel on Airport Road in April. The victim says she saw Martel give her mother money and two bags of crystal methamphetamine.

The victim also said she and her mother got into an argument because the girl wouldn’t stay with Martel, so her mother punched her in the face, causing her nose to bleed, according to court documents.

The mother then took the girl’s other siblings to the 7-Eleven to gamble while Martel raped the girl, the documents state.

The mother was charged in August and is being held in Lehigh County, unable to post $350,000 bail, online court records show.

Martel was also charged in August and was taken into custody Wednesday in Tamaqua by the U.S. Marshals Service. He is charged with raping the 12-year-old and in a separate case involving a 13-year-old.

In that case, the 13-year-old was found in the same Super 8 with Martel in May. The girl was found after a Bethlehem school resource officer called police to report the girl missing, saying she had left school one day in an Uber and never showed up for school the next day.

Martel is now accused of multiple crimes, including rape of a child. According to Martel’s court filing, he has not posted bail, which has been set at $500,000.
