Introducing: CapraKurt on Mafia: Definitive Edition Nexus

The Community Team continues to expand as the Cult of the Absolute across Faerûn, and I now have a new friend helping me keep up with the ever-growing inbox. Please give the warmest welcome to our newest addition to the Community Team, Kurtis, aka CapraKurt!

Tell us something about yourself, Kurtis!

Well, I’ve been using Nexus Mods since about 2008, so I’ve been modding and gaming for a while now! I’ve mainly worked in scientific roles before, but switched to Nexus Mods when I saw the opportunity. My main hobby is of course gaming, but besides that I like to play guitar (badly), try to keep my plants alive, and try to hang out with my friends in Europe as much as possible.

What made you decide to apply to Nexus?

I was honestly surprised when I saw that Nexus was based in the UK! When I saw the opportunity I knew I had to apply. It made sense to combine my hobby with a new career with a company I knew and had worked with for years and I couldn’t turn it down. When I got the offer I was over the moon as I finally felt like I had found a role that I would be comfortable with, especially as ‘gaming’ isn’t really accepted as a hobby in most other workplaces!

What about your gaming background? Have you done much modding?

I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember. To be honest it doesn’t really matter what genre, although my favorites tend to be FPS games and 4X’s like the Total War series (especially the Warhammer games) or RPG’s like Baldur’s Gate 3. But I think most of the games I play are indie games like Dave the Diver, Lethal Company, Rimworld, Cult of the Lamb and Ultrakill. I’ve been modding games (mostly Bethesda) since Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the first mod I ever downloaded being the Hilarity mod for those random spells. Mostly though I like to add texture mods and ENB’s like Qarls Texture Pack III and Natural Environments, or overhauls of systems like Horizon for Fallout 4.

Do you have any favorite mods?

I think one of my favorite mods has to be the Sim Settlements mod for Fallout 4. I really love city builders like Cities: Skylines, Tropico, and Manor Lords, and building little self-governing cities all over the wasteland really satisfied my itch for a Fallout themed version of that. Of course, Seamless Co-op for Elden Ring was a lot of fun with friends!

What does your work at Nexus Mods entail?

My role will be in Customer Service, where I will manage our community support system, handle issues from our users and aim to reduce our inbox response times so your issues can be resolved faster.

What are you playing at the moment? Are there any games you’re looking forward to?

Right now I’m of course playing the Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree! I’m taking my time with it and definitely not getting stuck on insanely hard bosses and nearly crushing my controller… As a strength/faith builder I refuse to change my playstyle and will be brute-forcing my way through the game! I also recently picked up Icarus which has been on my radar for a while as a survival crafting fan. I like the unique approach it takes to leveling up and unlocking gear, sort of a hybrid survival crafter/extraction shooter (minus the shooting), but it can be a bit grindy. For upcoming games I’m looking forward to Doom: The Dark Ages, Monster Hunter: Wilds, and GTA 6, I’m tentatively eyeing STALKER 2, and I’m keeping an eye out for a fair few indie games without solid release windows like RetroSpace and The Forever Winter.

Do you have any final thoughts?

No thoughts, head empty.

We wish you the best of luck in your new role, Kurtis, and can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing in our team!
