The Prime Minister shared his experiences after meeting two gangs and the challenges their members face.

Because of the retaliatory actions gang members took against each other, several individuals reported skipping school and not going out alone when they left their neighborhoods.

It was also noted that parents should be held responsible for the behavior of their children. However, it seems that many parents are relatively young and therefore do not have the parenting skills to raise their children properly.

It was agreed that poverty would always be a challenge for families, especially single-parent families. Yet in an earlier era, extended families played an important, supportive role.

An official from the Ministry of Social Transformation said that sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are a scourge for young girls, which poses additional challenges as the diseases are mostly left untreated.

If these diseases are not treated, young mothers will have children with autism and mental health issues, and they will be even more difficult to raise.

The cabinet agreed that more information is needed to discourage predatory behaviour.

The cabinet agreed that there should be more cooperation between Social Transformation and Health. More early childhood education, special education and more resources to finance programs are needed.
