‘Luckily her husband interviews her!’

GB News star Stephen Dixon has launched a scathing tirade against Labour’s Yvette Cooper.

Speaking to co-host Dawn Neesom, Stephen questioned why the Labour Home Secretary is apparently unwilling to appear on People’s Channel to discuss the government’s handling of the migrant crisis.

“Would Yvette Cooper be on the show?” he asked.

“She was there once. I interviewed her once, but she doesn’t like to be on GB News.

“She appeared on Good Morning Britain, of course, where her husband asked the questions.

“Can you imagine that happening on this channel? It would have been an Ofcom problem.

“People like Yvette Cooper should look at the ratings and realise that the channels she appears on have significantly fewer viewers.

“She should come on this channel and talk to the people she represents. It’s an open invitation.”

This came after the Home Office announced it was ending plans to house migrants at RAF Scampton.

The former air base in Lincolnshire, once home to the Dambusters squadron, was seen as a key part of the previous government’s plans to deal with the growing number of migrants arriving in the UK via small boats and other unauthorised means.

Labour has made it clear it wants to tackle the people-smuggling gangs that facilitate the flow of migrants across the Channel in rubber dinghies.

Cooper will chair a high-level meeting on the issue on Friday with senior ministers, figures from the National Crime Agency (NCA) and intelligence agencies.

It is a response to the deaths of at least twelve people who tried to cross the Channel on Tuesday.

Their boat was ‘torn apart’ and sank off the northern French coast of Cap Gris-Nez.

However, the tragedy did not dampen demand and the crossings continued in the following days.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Cooper said: “Exploiting vulnerable people is at the heart of the business model of these despicable criminal trafficking gangs.

“Women and children were in an unsafe boat this week that literally crashed into the water.

“At least 12 people have been murdered as part of this evil trade. We will not rest until these networks are dismantled and brought to justice.”
