Congress slams BJP for looting in the guise of development in IIOJK

Jammu: The Congress unit in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has strongly criticised the BJP-led Indian government for exploiting the people in the guise of development while ignoring the fundamental problems of the people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, IIOJK Congress General Secretary Taranjit Singh Tony told a rally in Jammu that the Indian government was enabling mafias and ignoring the genuine concerns of the local people. “The government is more focused on exploiting the people in the guise of development while failing to address their basic needs,” Tony alleged.

He said the BJP has been protecting land, liquor and contractor mafias operating in IIOJK, mainly from outside the region. Tony also criticised the government for providing employment to outsiders, citing the repeated cancellation of recruitment exams as evidence of New Delhi’s disdain for the local youth.

“Installing smart meters is just another tactic to drain the people’s hard-earned money. Instead of improving the city’s infrastructure with functional drainage systems and other essential amenities, the government is making life difficult for ordinary citizens,” Tony said.

He concluded by calling on the public to support Congress in the upcoming state assembly elections, vowing to rid the area of a mafia-protected government.
