Election objection

Judge Juan Merchan has decided to delay the sentencing of former President Trump in the case of New York v. Trump until after the November presidential election.

Trump’s sentencing date is now scheduled for November 26, up from September 18.

“The public’s confidence in the integrity of our justice system requires a sentencing hearing focused entirely on the jury’s judgment and consideration of aggravating and mitigating factors, without distraction or distortion,” Merchan said in a letter Friday.

Trump was found guilty in an unprecedented criminal trial on all 34 counts of first-degree falsification of corporate records after a six-week trial that stemmed from an investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. ….Read more
