CANADEM is recruiting for its expert roster for education in emergencies

CANADEM is looking for experienced Education in emergencies professionals with previous relevant experience for his Emergency education timetable. CANADEM is a Canadian based NGO that works with various UN agencies through the Standby Partnership Program. We regularly deploy candidates in various areas of expertise around the world. Registration with CANADEM is always free. We are looking to expand our pool of experts for potential/future opportunities with various UN agencies in the field. Most positions are for 3-6 months.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years post-doctoral progressive responsible professional experience in the educational field. International experience in complex emergency situations is preferred. Experience in cluster coordination in a large emergency response is highly desirable.
  • Master’s or Master’s degree in education, social sciences, international development, humanitarian response or a related field.
  • Technical experience and knowledge in the field of education in emergencies, including the impact of public health emergencies on the education system, monitoring and evaluation, supply management and coordination of partnerships.
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility and the ability to prioritize large amounts of work, even under pressure in a complex environment.
  • Experience in a humanitarian context within the UN common system or other comparable international organization is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, collaboration skills, teamwork skills, interpersonal skills and cultural competencies.

Languages: Fluent English (oral and written) required. Fluent/working knowledge of French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian and/or Russian is desirable.

CANADEM and its partners have a zero tolerance policy for failure to take action to investigate alleged cases of Sexual exploitation, abuseAnd Intimidation (SEAH). For this reason, we adhere to all United Nations policies, procedures and training on preventing sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH). CANADEM requires all its citizens to follow the PSEA online courseThis e-learning course consists of a series of lessons designed to raise awareness of SEAH, familiarize yourself with a range of measures to combat SEAH, understand the impact on victims, and the consequences for UN personnel who commit sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.
