Mother from Provo charged with sexual exploitation of 10-year-old daughter

A Provo mother has been arrested on suspicion of more than 70 counts of child abuse involving her 10-year-old daughter.

Chris Seamann, a Nevada man who is also a registered sex offender, is charged in the case.

KUTV is not mentioning the mother’s name to protect the identity of her daughter.

“Children need examples of love and hope,” says Suzy, a parent.

Suzy, mother of three, can’t believe it.

“It breaks my heart to hear again about a child being abused and manipulated,” said Suzy.

The woman charged is accused of sexually abusing her daughter and posting the content online.

Documents show the woman told police she had been taking sexually explicit photos and videos of her daughter since the girl was about 5 years old.

“As adults, it’s really important that the children we come into contact with know that we are a safe place,” Suzy said.

Provo Police officials said the woman admitted sending the photos and videos to Seamann.

Investigators said she took her daughter to Seamann about 10 times, with the last visit occurring in early September in Utah County.

He was arrested Friday morning in Mesquite, Nevada.

“I can’t speak from experience, but this kind of abuse and trauma should stay with you for the rest of your life. Hopefully it’s something this child can get over and grow from,” Suzy said.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are attempting to return the suspect to Utah.
