Two earthquakes – 3.5 and 3.9 – near Ontario shake parts of Southern California – Orange County Register

On Saturday morning, September 7, Southern California was hit by two earthquakes, the second one being even more powerful.

At 10:34 a.m., a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck 4 miles (6 kilometers) northwest of Eastvale, near the magnitude 3.5 quake near Ontario and Eastvale about a half hour earlier, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the USGS, the first quake struck at 10:05 a.m. The epicenter was 4.5 miles southeast of Ontario, 4.5 miles northwest of Eastvale, and 5.5 miles east of Chino.

It happened at a depth of about five kilometers.

No injuries or damage were reported.
