Maher Jokes Taylor Swift Wasn’t With Brittany Mahomes at Chiefs Game Because of NFL Wife Liking Trump Posts

HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher joked that pop star Taylor Swift wasn’t seated next to Brittany Mahomes at this week’s Kansas City Chiefs game because Mahomes had recently expressed support online for some of former President Trump’s policies.

Maher suspected that the two disagreed about Trump and that was why they were in different suites during the recent NFL game. The host noted this after saying that he remembered them sitting next to each other for almost every game last season.

“Don’t you think the partisanship has gone too far?” Maher asked regarding a possible seat change.

While Maher’s comment seemed more comedic, it followed weeks of criticism of Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after she liked a social media post by Trump.

Mahomes liked an Instagram post from Trump outlining the “2024 GOP platform” on August 13, prompting a wave of backlash from users. The Sports Illustrated model, however, defended herself.

In an Instagram post of her own, she wrote, “I mean honestly to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep rooted issues that you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others do well.”

Days later, she appeared to allude to the incident in another post, writing, “Contrary to the tone of the world today… you can disagree with someone and still love them. You can have different opinions and still be kind. Read that again!”

Mahomes also liked a comment on social media that read, “TRUMP-VANCE 2024.”

Even Trump picked up on Mahomes’ support for his post, recently thanking her on Truth Social, writing, “I want to thank the wonderful Brittany Mahomes for her vigorous defense of me, and the fact that MAGA is the largest and most powerful political movement in the history of our now failed country.”

The NFL wife is also known for being close to Swift, who is currently dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two were often spotted hanging out in suites during Chiefs games last season.

There is speculation that the new seating arrangement reflects political differences between the women, as Swift has been a vocal opponent of Trump in the past.

Maher couldn’t resist the gossip.

“The NFL season started yesterday. Taylor Swift used to be in the same booth with Brittany Mahomes. And now they can’t be in the same booth anymore,” he said on his Friday show, adding, “I think it’s because Brittany liked some of Trump’s tweets. And Taylor liked Kamala.”

Swift has not yet endorsed either candidate ahead of the November presidential election.
