Caregiver Arrested for Abuse and Exploitation | Local News

On Friday, September 6, a caregiver in Carter County was arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) following reports of abuse and sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

TBI received a referral from Adult Protective Services in August, which led to the investigation. After investigating the allegations, it was discovered that Selena Catharine Silver, 56, had engaged in a sexual relationship with an intellectually disabled adult male, for whom she was employed.

Silver was arrested and charged with the following:

• Abuse of a vulnerable adult
• Sexual abuse by an authority figure
• stalking

She is being held in the Carter County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

This is an ongoing investigation.
