DJ Paul shows off his Three 6 Mafia plaque collection and production credits

DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia reminded the world how influential and deeply rooted the legendary group is in hip-hop culture by posting the latest gold and platinum plaques he received in the mail.

The legendary artist shared a video on Instagram showing a room covered in these plaques, which symbolize the group’s contributions to hugely successful albums like Lil Baby’s My turn, from Ludacris Chicken & Beer album and Justin Timberlake’s Future sex/love sounds

DJ Paul also handed out plaques for the songs “All That” by Moneybagg Yo and “Death” by Trippie Redd – the latter of which was the source of a lawsuit from Reginald Boyland of On The Strength Records who claimed the song contained samples of Three 6 Mafia’s “Hit a Muthafucka” and that Paul no longer owned the rights to it.

Plaques for other artists’ songs aren’t the only thing he shared. Paul unveiled two plaques for Three 6 Mafia projects — Chapter 2: World Domination And Most famous hits.

In the video’s caption, DJ Paul revealed just how many plaques he now has in storage. “I just got another 28 million or so in plaques!” he wrote. “I’m literally putting them in different houses now because I have over 100 plaques‼️

Three 6 Mafia continues to have a major impact on the hip hop industry. Their debut album Mystical Stylez In 1995, the stage would be set for horrorcore themes and spooky soundscapes to be codified into a new subcategory of hip hop.

Over the years, the group has released nine studio albums, two subgroup albums, two posse albums, and two collaborative albums. They also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”, from the film Bustle and flow.

To this day, Three 6 Mafia’s music continues to be sampled due to their popularity. Last year, Glorilla released the song “Lick or Sum,” which samples the song “Slob on My Knob” by the subgroup Tear Da Club Up Thugs, which also featured DJ Paul, Juicy J, and Lord Infamous.
