Road rage incident results in suspect being arrested by Boise police on multiple charges

A 26-year-old Boise man has been arrested after a road rage incident got out of hand, Boise police said.

Thursday, just before 5 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the 7900 block of W. Overland Road. Officers found several shell casings in a parking lot but were unable to locate any victims or suspects, according to a police news release.

Officers subsequently found an unoccupied “suspect vehicle” at the scene and a “victim vehicle” at a home in Boise, police said. Police interviewed three men, all of whom were unharmed.

“Thanks to the assistance of several alert witnesses, officers later located and interviewed a suspect,” the department said in its press release. “Evidence indicated that there was a road rage altercation between the two parties prior to the shots being fired.”

After police found the suspect, he was found to be in possession of child abuse material and a stolen vehicle. Police said he gave officers a false name and attempted to conceal the weapon he allegedly used.

The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand larceny, destruction of evidence, eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child, providing false information to an officer, and a failure to appear warrant. Four of the crimes are misdemeanors.
