The third season of Declassified follows missions to take on America’s greatest threats, including war criminals, Russian spies, drug cartels, a Russian arms dealer, and hackers.

Part 6: The Spy Game: Russian Espionage

After a suspicious increase in Russian diplomats visiting the State Department, the FBI teams up with the Diplomatic Security Service to track mysterious radio frequencies. The agents soon find themselves dealing with a national emergency when they discover that the Russian government has successfully planted a wiretap in the building.

A highly sophisticated listening device was found in a conference room at the State Department where high-ranking officials were holding important meetings. After the discovery and taking precautions, FBI agents left the listening device behind so they could observe a spy at work. After the agents observed Russian embassy attaché Stanislav Borisovich Gusev, he was arrested and deported. But decades later, the mystery of who installed the listening device remains.
