Tennessee caregiver arrested, accused of sexually abusing vulnerable adult

A caregiver in Carter County was arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) after reports of abuse and sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

According to TBI, agents received a referral from Adult Protective Services in August.

The TBI launched an investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation involving a physically and mentally disabled adult male in Carter County.

During the investigation, officers discovered that 56-year-old Selena Catherine Silver, who was working as a caregiver at the time, had entered into a sexual relationship with the victim.

According to TBI, Silver also gave the victim narcotics and other illegal drugs.

On September 6, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Silver.

The TBI is charging Silver with assault on a vulnerable adult, sexual harassment by an authority figure, sexual exploitation of a vulnerable adult and stalking.

Silver was arrested and booked into the Carter County Jail on $10,000 bail.
