Bills Reacts Results: Start by placing the cars in a circle!

Earlier this week, we asked you, our Buffalo Rumblings readers, to show your faith in the Buffalo Bills ahead of their first game of the 2024 NFL regular season. There’s been no shortage of headlines surrounding the team, from the mass exodus of foundational players like safeties Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde and Mitch Morse, to free agency exhaustion and, of course, a very notable trade involving a serially disgruntled wide receiver named Stefon Diggs.

And that’s before we even get to the two new full-time play callers in offensive coordinator Joe Brady and first-time defensive coordinator Bobby Babich. Wait a minute…

The number one consideration is Josh Allen, and he’s still QB1 for the Buffalo Bills. That’s a beautiful truth. But does it all rest on his shoulders in 2024?

Free agency brought quite a few new names to One Bills Drive, most notably in the receiver room, where quarterback Josh Allen will now expect Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins to complement what will likely be a breakout season for Khalil Shakir . Essentially, the wide receiver unit and its depth chart, even with a returning Shakir, look significantly different for the first time since Diggs was traded to the Bills.

Is that a good thing, and will it pay dividends for Buffalo, which seemingly can’t seem to get out of the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs? It’s too early to really answer such questions, of course, but it’s also possible that while cutting Diggs could be good for the team in the long run, it could also look that way on the field this season. At least right away.

There’s a clear and layered adjustment period that will undoubtedly require patience from fans. Going from a superstar who has gone on record as saying he fired his shot to force a trade out of a situation he no longer liked in Buffalo to a core of receivers who have never played as de facto premiere targets on previous teams is a tall order. Expecting this summer’s budding chemistry to resemble a finished product in Game 1 is fool’s gold.

That goes for the Bills’ top draft pick in April, wide receiver Keon Coleman. It will take time for the big man to acclimate to the league, especially considering how little time the starting offense got in the preseason. Buffalo’s Day 2 draft picks aren’t expected to make much, if any, impact in Week 1. Safety Cole Bishop is lagging behind his peers thanks to a lengthy recovery from a shoulder injury that caused him to miss most of training camp and all three preseason games. Defensive tackle DeWayne Carter is pretty deep in the defensive tackle rotation at this point.

However, Bills Mafia has its fair share of stories to tell about wagons and surrounding them. As such, a large portion of our voting public is completely sold on the direction of the Buffalo Bills.

How much, you want to know… right? Seventy-four percent. Hope springs eternal. It’s also easy to get hung up on when your favorite team’s franchise quarterback is Josh Allen. Buffalo’s ride or die, and their season plays out the way he does.

Given that result, it must mean that most people believe the Bills will beat the Arizona Cardinals at home in Week 1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, that’s true, as 85% of respondents voted yes to the idea of Buffalo finishing 1-0 on opening weekend.

There were some interesting national polls, with some not-so-surprising results from those voters. Get ready for what may become a new term in your football lexicon in 2024: “The Field.” In the results below, 19% of people believe a team other than the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, or Philadelphia Eagles will win the next Super Bowl. Included in that 19% is the Buffalo Bills. Until proven otherwise, it’s a Chiefs world and everyone is just living in it.

Finally, in a poll that will surely interest Bills fans, only a third of voters responded positively when asked if they would be interested in Tom Brady making his television debut. That’s right, only 29% of voters consider Brady to be Tune-In Tommy. How about you? Is Brady’s television debut a must-see in your world?
