There was a video viral earlier this week, in which the Venezuelan gang Tren De Aragua allegedly attacked a man in a North Dallas neighborhood.

Officers from the gang unit launched an investigation into the incident and searched the apartments in the Haverwood Lane area of ​​North Dallas. Law enforcement initially believed the attack was not related to gang activity.

Libs of TikTok reposted this video on X on September 3. This same account also spread information about the Tren de Aragua gang setting up shop in several apartment complexes in Aurora, Colorado. These claims gained steam after the release of a video showing armed individuals in one of the apartment buildings.

Tren de Aragua is Venezuela’s most powerful domestic gang and is the only Venezuelan gang that has expanded its influence abroad. It went from a prison gang locked up in the Venezuelan state of Aragua to a transnational organization that terrorizes the populations of countries like Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru and the United States.

The growth of Tren de Aragua has alarmed US lawmakers, leading to the Ministry of Finance to sanction Tren de Aragua for his role as a transnational criminal organization in July 2024. In addition, the U.S. State Department has offered $12 million in rewards for information leading to the arrest of three of its top leaders.
