FIA busts international human trafficking gang operating in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces along with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday busted an international network of human trafficking operating in the country, local media reported.

Based on intelligence reports, the FIA ​​was able to bust the group, which was defrauding Pakistani nationals by offering fake jobs abroad.

The gang stole billions of rupees and provided citizens seeking to settle abroad with false documents, which they had printed themselves.

According to the report, which quotes FIA officials, the printing house produced false documents for several countries to help people seeking political asylum.

The group also included individuals from Afghanistan and India. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang has links to international criminal gangs. An Indian plot to tarnish Pakistan’s reputation was also uncovered.

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi lauded the efforts of Pakistani intelligence agencies and FIA Lahore in the successful operation and termed it a major milestone in the fight against human trafficking.

He vowed to continue similar operations and promised to tackle the human trafficking mafia with “iron hands”.
