Al-Sisi and Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister discuss bilateral relations and common challenges

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met in Cairo on Sunday with Saudi Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz and Minister of State and member of the Saudi cabinet Essam Bin Saeed.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik and Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini.

The meeting stressed the crucial importance of cooperation and intensive coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, given the shared security challenges and threats arising from current developments in the region.

Topics under discussion included the fight against terrorist and extremist organisations, transnational organised crime and the rise of cybercrime, which poses a huge challenge and requires joint efforts to limit these threats.

Ahmad Fahmy, spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, said the Saudi Interior Minister had conveyed greetings from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Al-Sisi.

During the meeting, President Al-Sisi expressed his appreciation to the King and the Crown Prince, reaffirming the deep brotherly and historical relations between the two countries and their people.

Al-Sisi also stressed the crucial role the two countries play as a cornerstone for stability in the region, especially in light of the growing challenges that require their continued and intensive cooperation.
