Josh Allen Injures Left Hand During Bills’ Win Over Cardinals

The Buffalo Bills pulled off a stunning Week 1 win over the visiting Arizona Cardinals, overcoming a 17-3 deficit early in the game. The 34-28 victory was not without collateral damage.

In addition to nickel cornerback Taron Johnson leaving early in the game with a forearm injury, quarterback Josh Allen was injured midway through the fourth quarter during a six-point red zone scramble. After the touchdown, Allen was seen heavily wrapping his left hand/wrist as backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky warmed up.

Fortunately, Allen was able to finish the game, but the injury to his non-throwing hand is worth keeping an eye on coming one short week before a huge AFC East showdown with the Miami Dolphins to open the season. Nursing a hand injury is never ideal for a quarterback, but even less so when you’re dealing with a four-day turnaround and a game under the spotlight of Thursday Evening Football.

During halftime of the Detroit Lions against the Los Angeles Rams Sunday evening football game, Mike Florio from NBC Sports was heard saying the injury didn’t look good. However, Allen was not seen with his hand wrapped after the game.

We’ll likely learn more about Allen’s injured left hand from head coach Sean McDermott during his Monday afternoon press conference. While it’s the last thing anyone in the Bills Mafia wanted to hear (and fully admitting that no one in the Buffalo Rumblings has a medical degree), given Josh Allen’s martial nature, they’re going to have to strap him to the trainer’s table and throw away the keys if anyone wants to keep him out of Thursday’s huge divisional matchup.
