Mayawati slams BJP, SP over meeting controversy

BSP leader Mayawati on Monday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) over the recent Mangesh Yadav clash in Sultanpur, warning citizens against the “drama” of both parties. She claimed that no fake encounters took place during her party’s rule in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati criticised the BJP and SP for their response to the incident and said, ‘After the Sultanpur clash, the BJP and SP are violently politicising the issue of crime, criminals and caste. In reality, both parties are complicit; law and order was far worse under SP rule.’ She reminded the audience of crimes against Dalits and other deprived sections under the SP government.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused SP president Akhilesh Yadav of sympathising with criminals. He retorted, “During the SP regime, the police used to run while gangsters chased them. Today, the tables have turned.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also joined the debate, accusing the BJP of operating like “criminal gangs” and demanding impartial probes into suspicious encounters.
