BSP leader Mayawati on Monday slammed both the BJP and the SP for criticising the Sultanpur clash. He said both parties were playing unnecessary politics on crime, criminals and caste while they took the same stand on these issues.

After the clash in Sultanpur, in which Mangesh Yadav was killed, the SP alleged that it was a fake clash, while the BJP accused the party of sheltering criminals.

In a post on ‘X’, Mayawati said, “After the clash in Sultanpur district in UP, BJP and SP are attacking each other on law and order issues and playing unnecessary politics in the name of crime, criminals and caste, when in this case both look alike.”

“Like during the BJP rule, the law and order situation in the SP government was much worse. People have not forgotten that SP goons and mafia used to rob and beat up Dalits, other backward classes, poor people and traders etc. in broad daylight,” she said.

Claiming that her governance in the state was the best, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, “Whereas in reality in Uttar Pradesh, the rule of law existed only under the BSP. People got justice without any discrimination based on caste and religion. There were no fake encounters etc. Therefore, everyone should be cautious about the law and order drama of the BJP and SP.
