New Delhi: Social media influencer Andrew Tate has been accused of rape and strangulation by two people British women who said he even sent them disturbing text messages after the incident, admitting he “enjoyed it” because it made them look uncomfortable.

Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are accused of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Romania. If found guilty, the brothers could face more than 10 years in prison.

One of the victims told the BBC: “He started kissing me… and he looked up at the ceiling and said, ‘I’m not sure whether I should rape you or not.’ Out of nowhere he grabbed me by the throat, slammed me against the back of the bed and choked me extremely hard.”

She said he then raped her and later sent her disturbing text messages and voice notes about rape and sexual assault. BBC shared a screenshot of the text message.

“Am I a bad person? Because the less you liked it, the more I liked it,” he said in a voice message.

In one text he wrote: “I love to rape you.”

The victim said Tate also tried to pass off the strangulation as a joke: “Are you really that offended that I choked you a little bit?”

In 2014, Anna told Bedfordshire Police about the alleged attack. Two other women made similar allegations and a police investigation was launched. In 2019, a file was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service, but it was decided there was not enough evidence to bring charges.

“It was rape”

This wasn’t the only incident, as another woman described a similar story. She told the BBC that she first met Andrew Tate in Luton ten years ago: “We got on really well and had a few drinks.”

She says they had what she describes as “a standard one-night stand.” A few months later, Sienna says, she met Tate again. She claims this time he assaulted her.

“We went to my bedroom… and we started having sex,” she says.

“Then he put his hands around my throat.”

She said she gasped for breath and then lost consciousness. When she came to, she said he was still having sex with her.

“I was terrified,” she says. “I just remember gasping for breath… It was rape.”

In the morning she said she had a bloodshot eye.

“One of the whites in my eye had just turned completely red. Apparently that’s very common in cases of domestic violence where strangulation has occurred.”

BBC Panorama said it was aware of a total of five women in the UK who said they had been strangled by Tate during sex. However, in June, Tate denied all allegations, saying: “I know I’ve never hurt anyone. It’s not in my nature to hurt people.”

Who is Andrew Tate?

Andrew Tate began his online fame as a self-proclaimed misogynist with his videos on YouTube and TikTok. His posts on Twitter also earned him millions of followers and a global profile.

He preached a message aimed at boys and young men that women should be dominated. At one point Andrew Tate claimed he was earning £400,000 a month from webcamming and that “75 women worked for him at the height of the war”.

In a video, he said women are “intrinsically lazy,” adding: “You can’t possibly be down to earth and not be sexist.”
