Officers arrest three after finding human remains near Johns River

MORGANTON, N.C. – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged three people after finding human remains near Johns River, a news release said.

The press release states that officers responded to a call on Corpening Bridge Road, near the canoe entrance, after a group of kayakers found human remains.

Following an investigation, a search warrant was executed on Pax Hill Road in Morganton and Robert Dale Jr., 58, Rocky Dale, 35, and Lorie Stephens, 50, were arrested.

Dale Jr. was charged with concealing death, disturbing human remains and violating probation. Dale and Stephens were charged with concealing death and disturbing human remains.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
