Trial in Westlock for sexual abuse of young people

The man cannot be identified because the court has imposed a publication ban on any information that could reveal the victim’s identity.

WESTLOCK – Following a preliminary hearing on Sept. 4, a man has been ordered to stand trial on four charges of sexually assaulting a juvenile.

The suspect’s trial is scheduled for Nov. 1 in Westlock Court of Justice. Prosecutor Mark Facundo called one witness, the alleged victim, to testify.

The man, who cannot be identified due to a court-imposed ban on publication of any information that could identify the victim, initially faced six charges. He will stand trial on four counts, including sexual interference, invitation to sexual contact, sexual exploitation and assault. One count each of sexual interference and sexual interference was withdrawn.
