Belize government convicts woman who dances with child

The Belize government has condemned the behavior of a woman during the recently concluded annual Carnival Road March, who was caught on video dancing indecently with a young boy.

The video went viral and was widely criticized by the public. The Ministry of Human Development and the National Committee for Families and Children (NCFC) also condemned the action in a statement.

“The Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples Affairs and the National Commission for Families and Children unequivocally condemn the recent inappropriate public display of a sexual nature involving a woman and a child.

“This incident, which occurred during the Carnival Road March on September 7, has caused great concern among the public as it highlights a deeply disturbing disregard for the safety and welfare of minors and the public in general.

“This indecent display involved a child in a way that invaded his privacy and exposed him to unnecessary scrutiny and potential harm. Such actions are unacceptable and undermine the trust that communities place in public events,” the NCFC said in its statement Monday night.

The company said it would seek legal advice on how to proceed with the matter and stressed that “we are steadfast in our commitment to protect children from any form of exploitation, including this highly inappropriate exposure.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to creating safe and respectful environments for children,” the NCFC added.

Police Chief Chester Williams also condemned the reprehensible act.
