One of the most beloved franchises is finally coming back with a new game. There is a new Mafia game in the works as we write this. If you are into gangster based games then the Mafia franchise is your go-to for all these games. Although the last Mafia game we saw was about 8 years ago, it feels refreshing that the developers decided to bring a new game to the Mafia franchise, titled Mafia: The Old Country.

So far, not much information has been released by the game’s developers. The game was just announced as a surprise during the Gamescom 2024 event and a small teaser trailer was given. Other than that, there is no other information as it is still quite early.

The game is scheduled for release in early 2025 as posted by the game’s publishers on X (Twitter). There is no firm date yet, but if the game is coming out early next year, we can expect a firm date towards the end of the year.

Mafia: The Old Country is being developed by Hangar 13, the same studio behind previous Mafia games such as Mafia II Definitive Edition, Mafia III Definitive Edition and even other games like TopSpin 2k25 and the Borderlands Collection: Pandora Box. Meanwhile, the publishers for the game are none other than 2K. The team behind other big titles such as Civilization VII, Borderlands 4, NBA 2K24 and WWE 2K24, to name a few.

With the game’s sudden announcement at Gamescom 2024, we are yet to see proper trailers and gameplay footage for the upcoming Mafia game. However, as you can gather from the announcement teaser trailer, the game is set in the early 1900s. Your goal in this new Mafia game is to survive and fight in an era full of danger and crazy mobs in the city of Sicily.

Mafia: The Old Country System Requirements and Platforms

The game’s developers, Hangar 13, have revealed that Mafia: The Old Country will reportedly be releasing on PC via Steam, as well as the new-gen consoles, namely the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X and Series S. System requirements, along with alternate editions and pricing for the game, have yet to be revealed. You can expect all of this information to become available in December 2024, as the developers plan to reveal much more about the game during that time.

Since there are still a handful of months before more details are revealed, as well as the game’s release date, it would be ideal to go back and play some of the older Mafia games to refresh your memories. If you play games from Steam, you can play these older Mafia games.
