Huge line-up of 60+ free gigs this weekend at Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues

The Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival starts tomorrow, Thursday, at 5pm and will be rocking the town until Monday 16th September.

With more than 60 exciting performances Featuring local, national and international artists, this year’s festival promises to be unforgettable.

And there’s a new venue to check out! Ramsays Bar and Lounge on Dunfanaghy Square is a fresh addition to the festival scene, with performances every day.

There is also plenty of music to be heard outside the seaside village this year. A little further along in Creeslough you will find Rose’s Bar, where the Mafia Cats will be performing on Saturday night.

Among the stars of heaven on earth are the aptly named international trio Atlantic Road Trip (pictured above), who will perform at the festival for the first time.

This jazz trio consists of Chad McCullough from the United States, Miro Herak from the Netherlands and Paul Towndrow from Scotland.

This is just one of more than 60 free performances at this year’s event, which starts on Thursday, September 12 and runs through Monday, September 16.

Another act making a welcome return to Dunfananghy Jazz and Blues is Californian blues grandmaster Shawn Jones.

Steeped in blues, roots and Americana, he has shared the bill with many famous musicians including BB King, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, Derek Trucks, Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa and many more. Shawn was also managed for a time by the late country music legend Waylon Jennings, touring with his band and playing on his 1996 release “Right For The Time”.

Porter McClister, who lives in Nashville, also comes from the US.

Porter has been a fixture on Nashville’s biggest Strip stages for thirty years and is also bandleader/lead guitarist for Gretchen Wilson and Tanya Tucker.

The event will also feature many of Ireland’s best live jazz, blues, roots and rock artists including Crow Black Chicken, Paul McIntyre, Mark Black, The Mafia Cats, Brigid O’Neill, Erdini, Portobello, The Unholy Gospel Band, Sam Davidson’s Taste, The Mindbenders, Stormchasers and many, many more.

The event has something for everyone and organizers say they can’t wait to welcome everyone this year.
