Central Asia: China touts ‘universal security’ at forum to counter terrorism, crime

Minister of Public Security of China Wang Xiaohong met with counterparts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan on Tuesday for the first conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang, eastern Jiangsu province.

The forum on public security and domestic affairs was aimed at “creating a sense of security community and deepening strategic mutual trust and cooperation,” Wang said.

“China is willing to enhance counter-terrorism and transnational crime fighting capabilities and build an efficient and pragmatic cooperation platform with Central Asian countries to realize the vision of universal security,” Wang said.

The meeting took place one year after the launch of the Central Asia Summit in Chinaexpanding Beijing’s cooperation with its neighbors from trade and investment to security and stability.
