Alicia Keys Makes Surprise Debut on Billboard Chart She’s Never Reached Before

Alicia Keys has spent much of 2024 promoting her first Broadway musical, The kitchen of hell. She spoke about it in interviews and even released a single, “Kaleidoscope,” from the cast album. The show was nominated for multiple Tony Awards and even won a few… although the musician himself, who was also in the running, did not emerge as the winner.

Now that the Tonys are a thing of the past and The kitchen of hell Living on the Great White Way, Keys is back making music for the sake of making. She recently teamed up with production trio Swedish House Mafia for the collaborative single “Finally,” which led her to a Billboard graph she has never seen before.

“Finally” peaks at No. 26 on this week’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The tune marks Keys’ first victory on Advertising boards ranking of the most listened to songs in the country that the company labels as dance or electronic.

While Keys may be new to the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, Swedish House Mafia has already had a lot of success on the chart. They’ve amassed 16 hits on the chart. That total includes four top 10 hits, though none have reached #1 so far.

“Finally” earns the week’s second-highest start on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Keys and Swedish House Mafia land behind a remixed version of Sage the Gemini’s “Gas Pedal,” which shares the name of the first take and credits the original artist. That tune opens at No. 19, with electronic acts John Summit, Subtronics and Tape B also winning along with Sage.

The unlikely collaboration is actually a cover, though not all listeners will realize that. “Finally” was first released in 2001 by house group Kings of Tomorrow. The tune was a minor hit on the dance and electronic charts in the US, but reached the top 40 of the main UK singles chart more than two decades ago.
