Elon Musk worries about Harris’ ‘path to citizenship’ promise for illegal immigrants

Vice President Kamala Harris has finally unveiled her long-awaited campaign website, which prominently features a pledge to create an “earned path to citizenship” for immigrants who entered the country illegally.

The bold statement was made just before Harris and Trump entered their key presidential showdown on Tuesday night.

Elon Musk and other prominent figures have sounded the alarm about this promise.

He accuses the Democratic Party of wanting to grant massive amnesty to illegal immigrants in order to get more votes for their candidates, a claim he repeats over and over again.

Musk has argued that legalizing the approximately “15 million illegal immigrants,” in addition to “bringing in tens of millions more,” “would instantly turn all the swing states deep blue.”

This would ultimately “turn America into a permanent one-party state,” Musk said.

He then referred to California’s 1986 amnesty campaign.

The vice president’s website, which went live Sunday after a significant delay, has already been criticized for its lack of detail. But it’s Harris’ immigration stance that has really set tongues wagging in Washington and beyond.

“She knows our immigration system is broken and needs comprehensive reform, including strong border security and an earned path to citizenship,” the website says, echoing a sentiment that has long been a cornerstone of Democratic immigration policy.

According to the New York Post, the proposal stands in stark contrast to the hardline approach of Trump, who has promised to launch a large-scale deportation initiative targeting illegal immigrants if he is re-elected.

The clash of these diametrically opposed views makes immigration a major issue in the upcoming elections.

In another post from X, Musk commented on a report that revealed Denver, Colorado had been funneling COVID funds to house thousands of illegal immigrants in shelters.

“This will continue to get worse until the politicians responsible are voted out of office,” Musk said.

Critics have slammed Harris’ website, saying it offers few new ideas for addressing the ongoing border crisis.

Instead, the vice president’s position is largely based on reviving a previously bipartisan Senate bill.

“As president, she will reintroduce the bipartisan border security bill and sign it into law,” the website said, without elaborating on additional measures.

Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, didn’t hold back in his response to Harris’ proposal.

Vance has warned that offering citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants would act as a “gigantic magnet” for further illegal immigration, as the Post outlined.

The magazine further noted that Harris’ call for a path to citizenship is not new.

She has advocated this approach before, even as she oversaw record numbers of migrants crossing the border in her role as the White House’s “border czar.”

The vice president reiterated this position at the Democratic National Convention and in public statements earlier this year.

Despite criticism over her border security record, Harris has sought to portray her campaign as someone who is tough on border security.

Her website touts her experience as California’s attorney general and emphasizes her efforts to “fight international drug gangs, human traffickers, and cartels that smuggle guns, drugs, and people across the U.S.-Mexico border.”
