Ted Cruz demands Biden dismantle Congress’s unapproved ‘parallel immigration system’

Ted Cruz (R-TX) is leading the group of senators demanding that the Joe Biden administration end a “fundamentally flawed” program. Cruz went so far as to claim that the Biden administration has created a “parallel immigration system without congressional approval.”

The Biden administration recently revived the controversial program, which allows 30,000 people per month to immigrate to the U.S. from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, despite discoveries of alleged fraud.

Once in the states, participants in the program are given a two-year work permit. However, the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate discovered over the summer that approximately 3,000 sponsors in the program had filed more than 100,000 forms. In another disturbing twist, it was discovered that some sponsors were using phone numbers of deceased individuals. They also reportedly used storage unit addresses and false zip codes.

Biden’s DHS halted CHNV in July “out of an abundance of caution.” At the time, they promised “additional screening” in the future. Just six weeks later, the Biden administration quietly restarted CHNV.

Cruz sends letter to Biden administration

In a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Cruz and his fellow senators demanded that the Biden administration “immediately” end the “ineffective, unlawful, and dangerous” CHNV program.

From The Blaze:
This fundamentally flawed program must be permanently dismantled. The program has not only facilitated widespread fraud, but has also exposed serious vulnerabilities in our immigration system, leading to grave consequences for public safety. The tragic sexual assault and murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray by two Venezuelan illegal aliens highlights the dangers posed by the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policies.”

The senators say the program is illegal and there is a “general lack of oversight.”

“By instituting a categorical program based on nationality, the Biden administration has created a parallel immigration system without congressional approval,” the senators said.

“There have been many cases of crimes, such as sexual assault, rape, and murder, committed by CHNV participants,” they noted. “Scammers have charged up to $5,000 for sponsorship, underscoring the program’s vulnerability to exploitation by traffickers and other malicious actors.”

You may recall that Haitian immigration came up during last night’s debate, with Donald Trump making a number of claims about the chaos that has allegedly been caused by Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.

It is truly disturbing that this program was shut down due to what appears to be massive fraud, only to be quietly restarted a few weeks later. Why is the Biden administration in such a hurry to get CHNV off the ground? After all, it seems that such blatant fraud justifies shutting down the program for more than a few weeks. Instead of rushing to restart it, officials should take the time to consider whether CHNV should be continued at all.

Sadly, it comes as no surprise that the Biden administration is behind such a shady program. For years, they have prioritized illegal aliens over the well-being and safety of the American people. While the Biden administration focuses on bringing these foreigners into the United States, millions of real Americans are struggling to put food on the table thanks to the failed policies of the current president.

We applaud Cruz and his fellow senators for having the courage to call out the Biden administration on this. They must be held accountable and CHNV must be ended immediately.

Key points:

  • Cruz demands Biden end ‘fundamentally flawed’ CHNV program
  • Massive fraud was discovered in the CHNV program, but Biden quietly restarted it.
  • Immigration from Haiti was a hot topic in last night’s debate.
