North Tonawanda man recovers from drunk driver hit 2 years ago

NORTH TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW) — Two years ago, Zackery Dawson was hit by a drunk driver, changing his family’s life forever.

  • Zackery Dawson, 23, was hit by a drunk driver on August 13, 2022, which changed his life dramatically.
  • After being in a coma and undergoing numerous surgeries, Zack is back home with his memory intact.
  • The Dawson family is hosting a meat and basket raffle to raise money for a wheelchair accessible van for Zack.
  • Tickets for Saturday’s raffle are sold out, but there are still additional raffles available for a beach house stay and a Bills Mafia hamper.
  • The family is thankful for the progress Zack is making. He is now awake, talking and slowly resuming his daily activities.

“It was a difficult, but also very humbling experience because of the many people who helped us through it,” said Holly Dawson, mother of Zackery Dawson.

Zackery Dawson is a 23-year-old whose life changed forever two years ago when he was hit by a drunk driver. After being in a coma and undergoing numerous surgeries, his family is fortunate to have him back home with his memory intact.

The Dawsons are hosting a meat raffle and a basket raffle on Saturday to provide Zack with a wheelchair-accessible van. While tickets for the meat raffle are sold out, you can buy a raffle ticket for a stay at a South Carolina beach house or a Bills Mafia-inspired basket.

The Dawsons are just happy that Zack is awake, talking and working on his recovery every day.
