House of Representatives has passed the Anti-Gang Bill 2024

In addition, the bill requires individuals to serve at least 50% of the maximum sentence imposed under the law. It also requires sentences to be served consecutively, rather than concurrently. This means that if one person is convicted of a crime carrying a 10-year sentence and another is convicted of a 7-year sentence, they would serve a total of 17 years (consecutive) rather than 10 years (concurrent).

During the legislative process, the Prime Minister, Hon. Gaston Browne, the Sir Steadroy Cutie Benjamin Knighted and other Honourable Members of the House engaged in a heated debate on the Anti-Gang Bill 2024.
