Man charged with aggravated assault

Sept. 14 – JEFFERSON – An Ashtabula man was arraigned and pleaded not guilty Friday afternoon to one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, before Magistrate Judge Joseph Macejko.

Kyle Vencill, 18, was charged after a June 22 brawl that left another man with a concussion and a cut to the back of his head that required 10 stitches, according to an Ashtabula County sheriff’s report and court testimony Friday.

The lower court-set bail of $25,000 cash, surety or 10 percent bond was extended by Macejko.

Vencill was also ordered to have no further contact with the victim.
