Costa Rica National Day – United States Department of State

On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my warmest congratulations to the people of Costa Rica on the 203rd anniversary of their independence.

The United States and Costa Rica share a deep bond, anchored in an unwavering commitment to democracy, human rights, and inclusive economic growth. I am proud of our joint efforts to address some of the region’s most complex challenges, including irregular migration, climate change, and transnational organized crime, as we seek to build a better future for our citizens.

Costa Rica is leading efforts in the region to support sustainable and responsible economic development, strengthen the region’s economic ties with the United States, and promote secure telecommunications and cybersecurity modernization. I am also encouraged by our work with Costa Rica to strengthen our people-to-people ties, including through impactful education, exchange, and language programs.

I look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish together during Costa Rica’s 204th year as an independent nation. I wish the Government of Costa Rica and the Costa Rican people a proud and celebratory National Day. May you take courage from the many achievements of the Costa Rican people.
