2nd man charged in fatal drive-by shooting in Santa Ana – Orange County Register

SANTA ANA — A 19-year-old man was charged Thursday in a fatal drive-by shooting in Santa Ana in June.

Cesar Gaspar was charged with murder with special circumstances, alleging a drive-by shooting and criminal gang activity, according to court documents.

Gaspar was also charged with possession of a weapon under the age of 30, with a prior offense, and possession of a weapon by a probationer. He faces an enhanced sentence for discharging a weapon resulting in death.

Gaspar is suspected of involvement in the June 3 murder of 19-year-old Angel Junior Vuelvas of Santa Ana.

Gaspar did not plead his case on Thursday at his summons, which has been moved to September 30.

Co-defendant Gabriel Gutierrez, 19, was charged in June with aggravated murder for the indirect discharge of a weapon by a gang member resulting in serious bodily injury. Gutierrez pleaded not guilty on July 2.

The shooting happened around 6:40 p.m. near 1100 S. Poplar St.
